Can career coaching benefit recent graduates or entry-level professionals?

Absolutely! Career coaching will specifically benefit recent grads and early professionals in the following ways (in addition to the general benefits listed above):

  1. Clarifying Career Goals: Many recent graduates are unsure about the career path they want to pursue. Career coaching can help them explore their interests, skills, and values to identify suitable career options.

  2. Skill Development: Entry-level professionals often lack certain skills required for their desired roles. Career coaching can identify these skill gaps and provide resources and strategies to develop them, enhancing employability.

  3. Professional Development: Building a successful career involves more than just technical skills. Career coaches help recent graduates understand workplace norms, etiquette, and communication skills essential for thriving in professional environments.

  4. Negotiating Job Offers: Many entry-level professionals may feel hesitant to negotiate job offers. Career coaches empower them to advocate for themselves, negotiate salary and benefits, and make informed decisions about their career trajectory.

  5. Navigating Workplace Dynamics: Starting a new job can be overwhelming. Career coaching offers support in navigating workplace relationships, managing expectations, and setting goals for career progression.

What methods of communication do you use for coaching sessions?

Career coaching appointments all happen virtually, via Zoom or Google Meetings. Clients are invited to keep their video on or off, depending on your comfortability. There may be pre-work required before a video session, but those resources will be sent in advance.

Probably not. Health insurance only covers psychiatric disorders as outlined by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV). These include mental health issues such as depression, eating disorders and anxiety. There are instances where current employers may pay for career counseling services when the coaching involves issues such as outplacement or an internal career transition, but you will have to bring that up with your employer.
